Ratings
A place for my personal Ratings of games, products, movies and tv shows. There will be a review page soon.
Gaming Consoles:
PS2 – 4/5 – still a lot of good games and still descent graphics
PSP – 3/5 – Great technology and graphics, but not a lot of games.
PS3 – 5/5 – Everything is awesome. Not a lot of bugs, awesome firmware updates, FREE online play, great games, awesome graphics
Xbox 360 – 3/5 – Great system with good games and graphics but a LOT of problems.
Movies:
Zombieland – 5/5 – best. zombie movie. ever. Funny and a great pleasure to watch. Too bad GM sponsored it.
Inglorious Bastards – 4/5 – slow to start and not bastards didn’t have a lot of air time, but the ending was funny, and Brad was definitely the best part of it.
No Country For Old Men – 2/5 – It had a great build, but some of the special effects sucked (like the dogs. Two dogs in it and they looked like rejects from a Scooby Doo movie), and the ending made the entire movie pointless and you really feel like 2 hours of your life have been stolen away from you.
Ghost in the Shell – 5/5 – the original movie was awesome. I can see why it was such a major influence on today’s movies. And the scary part is, that it’s a plausible reality. I can totally see that universe happening right in line with the universe of the anime series.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence – 5/5 – Even in the original Japanese, it was still a great movie. And the Major’s voice was pretty similar to the dubbed version, so you don’t really lose much in the translations.
Halo: Legends – 4/5 – If you’re a fan of the Halo series, this is a good set of clips for you. Bungie hired some of the biggest anime production companies to make them. From the creator of Ghost in the Shell to the studio that brought you Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z. You finally get a look at the Forerunners, you learn how the Arbiter became a mark of shame, and you get to see what a female Elite looks like. Even if you’re not a fan, it’s still very well done. Only gets a four, ’cause the episode from the Ghost in the Shell creator was full CGI, and while it was still cool, it would have been nicer to see it in more traditional anime.
TV Series:
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – 5/5 – the series really builds on the original movie. Which makes it just fun to watch.
Products:
Vizio “42 HDTV – 4/5 – Not the best picture in the world, but for the price, it’s a GREAT deal. Just keep in mind, if you’re not going to be watching a lot of movies, and you don’t have an HD cable box, then it’s probably not going to do you any good to get an HDTV, ’cause non-HD stuff will come in ugly.
Sony Blu-Ray Home Theater System – 5/5 – The one my parents got comes with a 5’1 Surround Sound system, and a built in mixer with the Blu-Ray player, but it does have support for 7.1 Surround Sound, which is cool. The only downside is, to get the BD Live to work, you have to hook to hardline it, although, that really isn’t much of an issue, which is why it doesn’t get marked down for it.
Other Things:
Super Bowl Ads: The Worst ads by far were the Taco Bell ad and the Boost Mobil ad. The US Census Ad comes in a close third simply because the government felt spending $2 million on a 30 second ad was a good use of tax payer money.
The Best ads go to the Volkswagen/Audi Group. The Slug Bug ad was actually pretty cool and brought back a lot of memories. And the Green Police Audi Clean Diesel ad was funny. Especially with the Green Police pulling over the cops.
